John Wick: Chapter 4 Movie Story Review and Update
In "Chapter 4," John Wick is still on the run despite his best efforts to exact revenge and put an end to the never-ending avalanche of merciless death merchants. The cunning Marquis Vincent de Gramont, who has been granted free reign by the High Table to kill John and harm everyone associated with him, has emerged as a new threat.
John may have friends who will protect him, like the Bowery King or Shimazu Koji, the hotel's manager, but he also has some very dangerous foes after him. The Marquis has two of the world's top murderers on staff: Mr. Nobody, a dog-loving tracker, and Caine, a blind assassin who serves the High Tables' wishes in order to protect his daughter.
The movie, according to director Chad Stahelski, is much more epic than the previous films. You might come close to this, according to Stahelski, if you combined "The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly" with Zatoichi and a Greek myth. Reeves discussed the overall atmosphere of the movie in an interview with Total Film, which was reported by CBR.com. There is undoubtedly a significant Japanese influence.
In "John Wick Chapter 4," Keanu Reeves returns as the film's title character and is joined by a talented cast of actors. The silver-tongued Winston played by Ian McShane and the stoic Continental concierge Charon, played by the late Lance Reddick, are among the familiar returning faces. The Bowery King, Laurence Fishburne, is back, and a bevy of newcomers played by some fairly big names will join these crowd favorites.
Long-time stuntman Chad Stahelski even filled in for Brandon Lee on "The Crow" before taking over following the sad incident that claimed the star's life. (via Entertainment Weekly). Prior to his Baba Yaga tenure, Stahelski later collaborated with Keanu Reeves as the stunt coordinator for "The Matrix" films. But he made his feature film debut in 2014 with "John Wick," and he also directed the two films that followed it, "John Wick: Chapter 2" and "John Wick: Chapter 3 - Parabellum." He's triumphantly returned to the director's chair for "John Wick: Chapter 4," and it's quite safe to say that his work with the "John Wick" franchise is his biggest claim to fame.
