Infinity Pool Movie Story Review and Update
Infinity Pool story about James and Em Foster, a well-to-do couple, are followed in the film as they travel to a secluded island resort. James, a writer, was looking for ideas for his second book when he unintentionally ran into another couple at the resort who loved his previous book. James agrees when they ask him and Em for a day trip outside the resort, but Em is hesitant.
James is awakened by police knocking on his door with an arrest warrant after a fatal accident. He is informed that there is a death penalty for crimes committed, and the only way to prevent it is to pay "a large sum of money." James decides to pay for a treatment that will make a lifelike clone of his body because there doesn't seem to be any other viable choice. In the course of his sentenced execution, the clone will stand in for him. You can see where the ethical lines start to blur in this situation if you've seen Christopher Nolan's 2006 thriller The Prestige.
The Fosters are sucked into a world of excessive consumption, exploitation, and outright sadism, and what starts out as a peaceful vacation quickly turns into a nightmare.
Infinity Pool, which was written and directed by Brandon Cronenberg (Possessor), will thereafter be released in theatres on January 27th under the distribution of Neon and Topic Studios. Together with Jeff Deutchman (Crimes of the Future), Ryan Heller (The Climb), and Mariah Zuckerman (The Mauritanian), who had previously collaborated as producers on the Princess Diana biopic Spencer, Michael Bloom (Leave No Trace) executive produces Infinity Pool.
Executive producers include Emily Thomas, Hengameh Panahi (Bone Tomahawk), Charlotte Mickie (Funny Games), and Emily Kulasa in addition to the principal actor, Alexander Skarsgrd.
