Is it really a 48 MP camera?

Redmi Note7 has a 48 MP camera sensor and also Xiaomi brands it as a 48 MP camera. It is not that kind of true or fake.
The Redmi Note7 uses Samsung ISOCELL GM1 48 MP sensor with a 0.8-micrometer pixel size with an f/1.8 aperture. The phone itself is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 AIE SoC which supports up to 25 MP primary camera. So what is the case here?

Technically though the Redmi Note7 has a 48 MP sensor, the ISP (Image Signal Processor) is not capable of processing a 48 MP image.

Let me explain nicely...

How does the 48 MP camera of the Redmi Note7 works?

The Samsung ISOCELL GM1 utilizes Tetra cell innovation and it works keenly. This sensor has 48 million pixels (8000×6000 pixels). Be that as it may, the manner in which this sensor capacities or the manner in which the camera programming capacities with SD660, the image gets somewhat confused.

Rather than overlying each shading on single (pixels are for catch hues) it fundamentally utilizes a solitary 2×2 zone of pixels for catching red light, another 2×2 exhibit for catching blue light and two 2×2 clusters for catching the green light. It joins these four pixels to make one super-pixel with 1.6 micrometers pixel estimate.

The last yield is a picture of 48/4=12 megapixels which is plainly inside the ability of Snapdragon 660.

What is the Pro Mode for 48 MP?

The Redmi Note7 has a pro mode as an option to capture 48 MP photos. But technically it is just a software technique which allows to captures a bunch of 12 MP photos and interpolates them to create a 48 MP shot.

Don't be sad fanboys or girls, I will tell you some of the advantages of this camera.

What are the advantages of the 48 MP sensor here?

The Redmi Note7 will be capable of capture more details in the image even in the low light conditions because of the 1.6 micrometers pixel size.

As an example, the POCO F1 has a sensor with 1.4 micrometers pixel size. The Samsung ISOCELL GM1 48 MP sensor will be able to capture more dynamic range and details compared to a standard 12 MP sensor.

Finally, Redmi Note7 has a 48 MP camera sensor and also the Xiaomi brands it as a 48 MP camera. But keep in mind that it will produce images with a maximum resolution of 12 MP as I have mentioned earlier.
